I was born and raised in Elsa, TX, a small border town about 20 minutes from the Mexican border. I am a first generation college graduate and now a Licensed Clinical Social worker in the state of Texas with expertise in severe mental illness. In 2016, I graduated with a Master of Arts in Experimental Psychology with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis. At that time in my life, I had hopes to enroll in a doctoral program but the universe said otherwise. After working for the local mental health authority for 4 years, I saw the pervasive need for social services in my community and decided to return to school to obtain my Masters of Science in Social Work. I graduated with my MSSW in 2022 and started my post licensure career in dialysis, working primarily with low-income Hispanics with chronic medical illnesses. Currently, I provide support to caregivers who have children diagnosed with severe mental illness and I manage my own small private practice. In my free time, I enjoy doing crossfit, traveling and spending time with my partner and our 3 year old toddler (or our three-nager as we like to call her). I am very excited for the work that Activate CR is doing, and am doing my part to improve patient outcomes and support my community as best as I can.
